ローリング・ストーンズ初のコンピレーション・アルバム。1966年3月28日にアメリカのロンドン・レコードから、同年11月4日にイギリスのデッカ・レコードからリリースされ、収録曲とアルバム・ジャケットが異なります。

アメリカ盤は1964年と1965年の曲に焦点を当て、「19th Nervous Breakdown」とギターのイントロで再録音された「Time Is on My Side」の2曲を新曲として収録。ジャケットは、制作途中で頓挫したアルバム『COULD YOU WALK ON THE WATER?』から流用され制作されました。ガイ・ウェブスターによってビバリーヒルズの山にあるフランクリン・キャニオン・パークで撮影されています。
